Joan Sheldon – Executive in Residence | Australian Institute of Management
Former Queensland Deputy Premier and Treasurer, Joan Sheldon, pursued her successful political career throughout the heights of the ‘Glass Ceiling’ era. Highlights of her career include becoming the first woman to lead a political party in Queensland and the first woman to lead a state Liberal Party in Australia.

Julie Hammer has recently retired from a 28 year career in the Royal Australian Air Force. Career highlights include being the first woman to command an operational unit in the RAAF and role as Commandant of the Australian Defence Force Academy. At the time of her transfer to the Reserve, Julie was the most senior woman in the Australian Defence Force. She was the first the first woman to achieve One Star rank in 1999 and is the only woman in the history of the Australian Defence Force to have received Two Star rank. Next year Julie will become the National President for Engineers Australia, the first woman ever to hold that position.
Catherine Palin-Brinkworth | Speaker, Business Strategist, Executive Coach and Thought Leader.
Former Chairman of chartered accounting firm Horwath Brisbane, and Founding Director of Progress Training Systems, Catherine Palin-Brinkworth is currently Managing Director of Progress Productions. Catherine’s leadership and management career is highlighted in the newly released ‘Secrets of Inspiring Leaders Exposed’ along with Liz Ellis, Father Chris Riley, Ian Kiernan and Tim Costello.

Karen Heck became CEO of her family’s fifth generation sugar business in 1996. Her current role as Executive Director sees her working with Federal, State and local government agencies, corporate advisers and industry bodies to formulate a 20-year plan for the 6,000-hectare sugar cane catchment. She is a member of the organizing committee for the Women on Boards program and last year was one of 80 people under the age of 40 invited to attend the Australian Future Directions Forum.

Kristin Devitt has 15 years' experience working in media and corporate public relations and is a national award winning public relations practitioner. Kristin not only runs her own successful boutique public relations consultancy but is also the co-founder of Babes in Business, a sassy business women’s networking organisation attracting Queensland’s younger female leaders.
